About the tutorial: Leveraging Large Language Models for Private Data
Instructors: Dr. Krzysztof Nawrocki, National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ), Dr. Rafał Możdżonek
Date: 26.09.2025, 10:00 – 17.00
Format: On-site, Room 31
Language: English
About the Tutorial:
This hands-on session introduces how Large Language Models (LLMs) can be applied to private datasets in secure environments. Participants will explore tools and techniques that enable the use of generative AI while ensuring sensitive data never leaves the local infrastructure.
The tutorial outlines the architecture and data requirements needed to build a private ChatGPT-like assistant, focusing on semantic understanding and data control.
Topics Include:
- Overview of LLMs and transformer models
- The attention mechanism and its role in language processing
- Methods of adapting LLMs to specific domains and datasets
- Fine-tuning LLMs on private data (hands-on)
- Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) – theory and practical exercises
- Advanced RAG enhancement techniques (hands-on)
About the Instructors:
Dr. Krzysztof Nawrocki is a particle physicist at the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) with broad experience in big data, grid computing, astronomy, and machine learning. He specializes in text data analysis, particularly in medical applications, and is actively involved in the EuroCC project, supporting secure and scalable AI solutions using the Athena HPC cluster.
Dr. Rafał Możdżonek is a nuclear physicist by training, has been working for many years on data analysis, machine learning, and now on LLMs, writing applications for scientific use at the National Centre for Nuclear Research.
